Hi all,

With the feedback received during and after the EAP WG meeting at the IETF, we've updated the GEE draft. Joe S and Parviz Y provided several comments at the meeting and offline too and we've invited them to work with us on the draft, and finalized GEEv0. As noted in the draft and at the meeting, GEE is quite extensible and with Joe's help added text on a future GEEv1 that will be more extensible, say than GEEv0.

We think draft-barany-eap-gee-01 is stable and ready for reviews. Please send reviews to the EAP mailing list.

thanks and regards,
Lakshminath

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.

Title : Generic EAP Encapsulation (GEE), Version 0 Author(s) : P. Barany, et al. Filename : draft-barany-eap-gee-01.txt Pages : 21 Date : 2006-4-24

The Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) is a general
authentication protocol that supports multiple authentication methods
and typically runs directly over data link layers without requiring
IP. EAP can be used for different types of authentication, where
multiple providers provide access to different services. However,
EAP itself does not have the ability to differentiate between
multiple types of authentications. This document specifies a general
encapsulation protocol, called Generic EAP Encapsulation (GEE), for
differentiating between multiple EAP exchanges executed by a peer.
This document specifies GEEv0 and provides a summary of capabilities
to be specified in GEEv1.

Send a message to:

In the body type:
        "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-barany-eap-gee-01.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
        how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the Internet-Draft.
