Sorry again the sender address was wrong in the previous message.

I glanced thru the two RFCs for L2TP and PPTP, they are basically call

defining a MIB?

Having more than just glanced at the protocol (I was one of the authors of the original PPTP protocol way back), and having implemented L2TP, I frankly disagree.

The LWAPP protocol *does* tunneling. It has a protocol to setup tunnels, and to "configure" the endpoint, much in the same way that L2TP can send MTU and framing information from the PNS to the PAC (well, the L2TP equivalents anyways).

So, please, explain how this is different? I can cut and paste from the L2TP RFC if this makes it easier, but I'm sure you can find that info as well.

However, it seems that most of what LWAPP tries to do could probably be
achieved by way of SNMP set operations, so this should probably be the
basis of discussion in this ML.

ok, let's tunnels packets within SNMP. Great idea.

I think that you are misinterpreting my comments. The comparison is SNMP + LWAPP MIB with LWAPP taken the discovery part out.
However, CAPWAP activity is an interesting one, it may succeed, especially with so many good experts like yourself on board.
